OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE
The Women's Prayer Line provides a once or twice a month opportunity for women to utilize their gifts and talents in the following ways:
Hostess
The Hostess calls into the designted telephone number at 5:45 AM using a special access code. The Hostess sets up two to three Praise & Worship songs that she chooses, so that as the women dial in between 5:50 AM and 6:00 AM, they enjoy uplifting background music. The Hostess greets the women with a warm welcome as they enter the Prayer Line.
Promptly at 6:00 AM, the Hostess welcomes all the women using the recommended script, and shares that week's prayer topic and the names of the women serving that week. The Hostess also facilitates the transition between the devotional and the prayer time, and winds up the call between 6:20 AM and 6:21 AM, thanking everyone who participated that week.
Devotional Writer
Devotional Writers find or write an on-topic devotional that is supported by Scripture and is 4 to 6 minutes in length. The devotional will be read by another woman during the prayer call. All devotionals are due by the Monday preceding the assigned Wednesday.
Devotional Reader
Devotional Readers read a devotional provided by a Devotional Writer. The Devotional Reader practices reading the devotional in advance to ensure that she does not exceed six minutes.
Devotional Writer & Reader
Devotional Writers & Readers read their own devotionals, fulfiling the duties listed above for both the Devotional Writer and the Devotional Reader.
Prayer Intercessor
Prayer Intercessors pray aloud during the morning Prayer Call, dividing time between that week's prayer topic and all the confidential prayer requests e-mailed to the Prayer Intercessor by 9:00 PM the previous night. Praying typically begins around 6:10 AM following the devotional, and ends no later than 6:20 AM, leaving time for the Hostess to close out the call by 6:21 AM at the latest.
Prayer Intercessors are to ensure that they have receive that week's prayer requests by e-mail the night before, and prayerfully review them in advance of the prayer time. This helps prepare their hearts to pray over the requests, and helps ensure that they balance their time between the topic and the requests received during the designated prayer time.
